Step Up

There are five courses that you must complete

CPR/First aid/OSHA 10 – These are in person classes. To register, visit your TradeSchool account, click on “Class Schedule”, then “Safety Classes” on the left. Find dates that work for your schedule but DO NOT ENROLL. Note the class number listed on the left side of the header. Send an email to rlilley@jatc26.org and mmiller@jatc26.org letting us know that you are a Step Up interested in that class number. Make sure the email includes your name and last four of your social. (If you have a current certification in these safety courses, provide us a copy of your card(s) and we may be able to credit you.)

CML Math and CML Conduit – These are computer based courses with a final, in person exam. The JATC will enroll you in these classes and send you an email with instructions on how to access them the month following your enrollment in the Step Up program.

What is it like to work in a CML course?

The content of a CML course is very structured and the user must participate in each lesson before a lesson evaluation is given. In most cases, CML courses do not allow the user to skip to the end of the course and take a final test. The CML course will not allow you to advance through the course unless you have viewed all required content, completed any exercises, and correctly responded to the questions asked; thereby demonstrating proficiency in the current lesson. If you are unable to complete the lessons, the CML may require you to repeat the material until proficient.  The JATC will be able to see your advancement through the course and, when you have successfully completed the course, you will be automatically enrolled for an in-person testing session and will take a final test on the topic. The testing session will appear as a class in your TradeSchool account. When you see the testing class listed, you are eligible to attend the next available testing session and your name will remain on the roster for testing until you attend and pass the in-person test. This is how the JATC will assure the identity of the person taking the course. You will not be given credit for the course until you successfully pass the final in-person exam.

Testing After Completing a CML Course

The JATC will monitor your progress in the CML courses you are assigned. We will know when you complete a course. At that time you will be eligible to take your final in-person exam. You will receive an email with information about available testing sessions. You will attend the testing session of your choosing. You will not need to pay for this testing session. Your name will remain on the testing session roster until you attend and pass your test. If you fail the test, you will not be able to test again for several weeks so you can review the material you missed. You must bring government issued photo ID to your testing session.
